We are pleased to inform you that the Sri Lanka Canada Association of Ottawa will be hosting the SLCAO Mega Talent – Season II \u2013 on Saturday February 18th, 2017.<\/p>\n
Date: February 18th, 2017
\n Time: 3pm \u2013 9pm
\n Venue: Saint Isidore Church Auditorium (1135 March Rd, Kanata, ON K2K 1X7)<\/p>\n
The Mega Talent show is a non-competitive event which provides an opportunity for youngsters to show their talents. Participation in this event is open to everyone. <\/p>\n
Keeping in line with the previous year, there will be a community potluck, a great way to bring our people together. Please bring your favorite dish to share (10-15 servings).<\/p>\n
Eligibility and Performance Criteria:<\/p>\n
A.\tA Stage fee applies to each performer, please check the Fee schedule. To obtain a Stage pass please fill the \u201cStage Performance Request Form\u201d in full and submit before January 16th 2016 11:59pm
\nB.\tNo age limit applies for the performers.
\nC.\tAny performance is welcome. Only individuals, families or teams will be considered for an act. Stage passes are issued per person. An act can be (but not limited to) a song, a dance, a magic trick, a movement act, a comedy or playing a musical instrument. The only exception is when a performer brings their own live band; 14 days\u2019 notice (by February 4th) is required to accommodate a live band.
\nD.\tPerformers may elect to play with their own instrument, their own live band, a music track or a combination. If you are playing a track please submit the FINAL track 7 days (February 11th) prior to the event. Failing which your time slot will be cancelled. If a track is submitted as a backing track please ensure there are no vocals in the track. Performers can bring their own band but prior information is necessary to set-up. There are limited resources on stage and not all instruments can be accommodated. If you need to bring your own band, please inform us 14 days ahead.
\nE.\tIf you are singing there are dedicated vocal mics. We will not permit the use of any outside mics. If you are bringing your own instrument, please make sure to indicate this on the attached form.
\nF.\tWhile we encourage performances in Sinhalese or Tamil, we will also consider English or French performances as well.
\nG.\tPlease provide some introductory information about the performance to be announced prior to your item. For example, if the performance is a song please provide the original composer\/singer, if a dance\/drama performance provide costume designer\/choreographer details where applicable.
\nH.\tWhile we encourage each family\/team to take part in one performance, each member of a family can take part in individual sessions, depending on the availability of time slots.<\/p>\n
Fees for the event are as follows:<\/p>\n
\u2022\tEntrance fee $10.00 per attendee, Children under-6 years, free admission
\n\u2022\tStage Fee $10.00 per performer<\/p>\n
Mega Talent 2017 is not conducted with a view to generate profits. However, fees collected will be placed towards covering the costs of the auditorium, sound and lighting equipment, technicians etc. <\/p>\n
Due to time constraints there will be ONLY 25 time slots for the show. Each performance has to be 3-5 minutes maximum. Performers will not be allotted additional time for stage d\u00e9cor or preparation. <\/p>\n
