Traditional Dance Workshop by Palika Samanthi on the 15th of May (Sunday)

Dear Members and Friends.

We are pleased to offer a Traditional Dance Workshop conducted by Mrs. Palika Samanthi. She is a Senior Lecturer and

Former Head of the Department Indian & Asian Dance at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts in Sri Lanka

(www.vpa.ac.lk). She is visiting Canada briefly. We are thankful for her donation of her valuable time for a worthy cause.

SLCAO will offer this workshop for free, for those performers that took part in the dance performances of the 40^th Anniversary Sinhala-Tamil New Year Celebrations.

We encourage parents of performers or siblings of performers or members or non-members to make use of this opportunity at the costs below (please pay cash/cheque at the entrance).

Member rate – $10 per individual, $20 max per family upto 4 (in the same house hold)

Non-member rate – $15 per individual, $30 max per family upto 4 (in the same house hold)

The workshop will be at Heron Gate Community Center (1480 Heron Road) .

Kids (less than 12 years old) workshop 9:30am – 12:30 pm

Youth/Adults 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Promoting social and cultural activities are few of the objectives on the Sri Lanka Canda Association. The Executive Committee undertook an activity this year to specially promote Sri Lankan Dance Styling. In doing so we were very pleased with the training provided for the dance teachers and some students by Mrs. Palika Samanthi. She is a Senior Lecturer and Former Head of the Department Indian & Asian Dance at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts in Sri Lanka (www.vpa.ac.lk). She is visiting Canada briefly. In recognition of her contribution to the community, SLCAO presented her with a Token of Appreciation on the 15th of May 2016.
